<shrug> I guess I'm from the "minimalist" school of securing a server. When I
set up a server, I do an absolute minimal install from the CD, and then install
whatever services will be running on that server from tarballs (sendmail,
apache, whatever).
I usually uninstall linuxconf and ntsysv, and related files, since they are
very unecssary.
I'm not saying this is more correct than leaving things on; just different
approaches to security. I actually have a checklist I go by (install this,
uninstall this and that, etc.) Just goes that extra bit in battening down
those hatches :-)
