I suggesting setting pppd up in its own right, rather then through kppp,

then you will definatly have ppp0 as the interface for pmfirewall...

as for your email,

you didn't close ports 25 or 110 did you?

if you're uncertain as to what IP address $OUTERIF points to, just edit
pmfirewall.rules.local and insert echo $OUTERIF . When you
pmfirewall restart it will display the IP of $OUTERIF
